Moose Hunting

Today I begin to pack for the great moose hunt in Western Alaska on the Yukon River. We leave Monday morning and are going to one of the most pristine places in Alaska that is really remote to try and find the elusive big bull moose. This moose isn't really a big bull but a unique picture I took of one feeding in a swamp. They don't call them swamp donkeys for nothing you know.

These days are always full of excitement for me as I truly love just being in the great outdoors of Alaska. There is so much to do to get ready for a hunt like this. Packing the right clothes for the ever changing Alaska weather. Being on a river system adds another challenge to the mix with waders and rubber boots, rain gear, hunting boots for dry ground, all the proper stuff to take care of the moose if we are lucky enough to harvest one and the list just goes on. The planning involved is tremendous with strategy and scouring maps to do a hunt like this. I will admit this year is a little different from the past but when I get back on the 20th you can read all about my adventure as it is truly going to be a one of a kind trip that I will share the details on later.
